COVER CONCEPTS 4/25/24

We’re excited to share some of our thoughts on the theme of Outcompeting with Technology.
We’ve developed conceptual imagery of a sculptural letter "Q" each direction has a unique approach to conveying the theme. Our goal is to express the future of technology visually and prioritize innovation. Our ideas are bold and sophisticated, while avoiding cute or pop. We’ve leaned into metaphors to express the strategy. We’ve chosen elements that convey power, with clean lines and shapes that suggest advancement and progress. We have intentionally avoided expected “tech” imagery like circuitboards or semiconductors.

Ferrofluid
developed by NASA, is a liquid that is attracted to the poles of a magnet and reacts with a pattern that varies in length and height.
We would fill this inside of the steel “Q” with the ferrofluid to create a bold and modern look that conveys the fluidity of technology.

The Plasma lamp
was invented by Nikola Tesla, during his experimentation with high-frequency currents in an evacuated glass tube for the purpose of studying high voltage phenomena.
The legibility of the “Q” will be very prominent as it’s the center of the power source. The electrodes will arch from it, giving the appearance of multiple constant beams of colored light. This will evoke a sense of leadership and foresight in the face of technological advancement.
2.
Reflection Sphere
Using a crystal sphere we would reflect an upside down “Q” that would be optically corrected to be the right side up in the reflection. This hints at an ability to see into the future and conveys boldness, authority, and sophistication.
3.
Gears
We would build the “Q” entirely out of gears. The gears add a sense of motion and dynamism to the sculpture. The model could be incased in a clear crystal that elevates it’s appearance as a high quality watch back.
It would convey the importance of staying ahead in an ever-evolving technological landscape. As the moving components suggest precision, accuracy and leadership with advancement of technology.
*The model maker would need a great deal of time to create something this complex and to have it actually work as a moving model, it most likely would exceed the current budget.
